S-Bahn / Munich Transport Network (MVV)

The S1 and S8 S-Bahn lines connect the airport to the Munich city center at 10-minute intervals. The S1 travels via the west of the city and the S8 via the east. The trip to the main railway station at the city center takes approx. 40 minutes.

The S-Bahn stops at two stations at the airport:

Besucherpark

  • P41, P80, P90 parking areas
  • Visitors Park ("Besucherpark")
  • Administration, freight forwarding companies, etc.

Flughafen München

  • Terminal 1 and 2
  • Final station on the S1 and S8 lines
  • 10 minute intervals
  • Duration: approx. 40 minutes
  • S1 and S8

Lufthansa Express Bus

The Lufthansa Express Bus is the nonstop connection from Munich Airport into the city centre and back again, 365 days a year. No matter which airline you fly with!

Every 20 minutes from Munich Central Station via Munich North (Schwabing) to Munich Airport and back again. The following stops are served:

  • Munich Central Station
  • Munich North (Schwabing)

  • Journey time Central Station ↔ Airport: 45 minutes
  • Journey time Munich North (Schwabing) ↔ Airport: 25 minutes

Flixbus long-distance buses

Flixbus connects Munich Airport with numerous locations in Germany and Europe.

The bus stops for long-distance buses at Munich Airport are just a few steps from Terminal 2 at bus stops 21 and 22. Terminal 1 is only a five to 10 minute walk away. Please follow the signs.

  • Destinations in Germany and Europe
  • Central bus stop at Terminal 2
  • 5 to 10 minute walk to Terminal 1

Regional trains / MVV-Bus line 635

There are regional trains between Freising and the following cities:

  • Landshut
  • Regensburg
  • Passau

Between Freising and the airport please use the bus line 635 or the airport express train ÜFEX.

ÜFEX Airport express train

The Airport express ÜFEX stops at the final train station "Flughafen München" (between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2) and directly connects the following cities with Munich Airport: 

  • Regensburg
  • Landshut
  • Moosburg
  • Freising

Park at the airport and take advantage of free public transportation

If you park your car in the P41, P44, P51, or P90 parking areas, you can use your parking ticket for free public transportation to your departure terminal – and when returning to your vehicle after your trip. Simply present your parking ticket when boarding. The ticket is valid for all persons travelling to or from the airport together. The parking ticket is automatically issued when you enter the parking area at the barrier - please keep it safe.

You can use these connections free of charge with the parking ticket:

  • S1 and S8 rail lines every 10 minutes between the station "Visitors Park" and the airport, Terminals 1 and 2
  • 635 bus line every 10 minutes between P41 and Terminalstrasse Mitte (level 04)
