How do the self-service bag drops work?
In order to use this service, passengers must have checked in online and therefore have a valid boarding pass. Some airlines also offer check-in via kiosks at the terminal.
Step 1: At the airport, the boarding pass is scanned at a kiosk to print out the luggage tag for the check-in bag. The passenger then attaches the tag to the long side of the baggage.
Step 2: Afterwards, the passenger takes the luggage to the bag drop machine and places it on the designated conveyor belt. Once the boarding pass and baggage tag have been successfully matched, the luggage is automatically transferred to the baggage system and the passenger receives a receipt.
